Getting your first massage can be a wonderful and relaxing experience. Still, it’s normal to have questions. This simple guide will help you feel more comfortable. Following these tips will also help you get the most out of your session.

Before Your Appointment
- Arrive Early: Try to arrive 10-15 minutes before your time. First, you’ll have a chance to fill out any paperwork. Then, you can have a quick chat with your therapist.
- The Consultation: Your therapist will discuss your health history. In addition, you’ll talk about any specific areas you want them to focus on or avoid. This is a great time to mention any concerns. For instance, tell them if you have sensitive skin or a recent injury.
- Dress Comfortably: You’ll be asked to undress to your comfort level. Then, you’ll lie on the massage table, which will be covered with a clean sheet. The therapist will step out to give you privacy. Also, rest assured that you will be properly draped with the sheet throughout the massage. Only the part of your body being worked on will be uncovered.
During Your Massage

After Your Massage
- Take It Easy: Your therapist will step out of the room to let you get dressed. After that, take your time getting up from the table. You might feel a little lightheaded.
- Hydrate: It’s a good idea to drink plenty of water after a massage. This helps your body flush out toxins released during the session.
